Is private coaching only for experienced actors?
No. Private coaching is available to actors at every level, including beginners. The work is tailored to where you are now and what you need to develop next.
What can we work on in private coaching?
Anything that helps you become a stronger actor. That can include script analysis, understanding and applying technique, character development, emotional work, physicality, vocal work, accents, scene work, audition skills, or any specific area of your craft that needs attention.
Do I need to bring my own material?
Not necessarily. You can bring material you want to work on, or Braden can provide or suggest material when appropriate. The goal is to use whatever best serves your development.
Is private coaching different from taking an acting class?
Yes. In a class, the work serves the group. In private coaching, everything serves you. You get the entire session focused on your specific challenges, goals, material, and development.
Classes also give you the benefits of community, scene partners, consistency, and watching other actors work. Private coaching gives you concentrated, individualized attention. Many actors benefit from doing both.
Is private coaching just running scenes over and over?
No. Running lines is only one small part of acting training, and it is rarely the thing that creates meaningful growth by itself.
Private coaching can involve understanding the material, applying technique, breaking down a character, working on emotional access, developing physicalities, improving vocal work, working on accents, or figuring out why a particular choice is or is not working. The goal is to help you understand and inhabit the character, not simply memorize and repeat lines.
Does Braden give line readings?
No. The goal isn't to have you imitate Braden's performance. Braden's job is to give you the tools and understanding to make the work your own.
That means developing your ability to analyze material, understand technique, make specific choices, and actually inhabit the character rather than being told exactly how to say a line.
Can I book just one private coaching session?
Yes. You do not have to commit to ongoing coaching. You can book a single session whenever you need focused individual training.
Can I book private coaching on an ongoing basis?
Yes. If you want sustained development, you can continue working privately over time. The work can evolve as your skills, challenges, and goals change.
Is private coaching available online?
Yes. Private coaching is available via Zoom worldwide. Online coaching uses the same psychology-based technique and individualized approach as in-person coaching.
How much does private coaching cost?
Private coaching is $150 per hour, with other session lengths available at $75 per half hour. A four-hour package is $550. Regular rates apply Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time. Sessions outside those hours are subject to the overtime rate.
Can private coaching help me grow faster than a class?
It can, particularly when you have a specific area you need to work on. Because the entire session is focused on you, there is no need to divide the coach's attention among multiple actors. That allows you to spend more time addressing the particular skills or challenges holding you back.
Can private coaching guarantee that I'll become a better actor or book more work?
No coach can guarantee bookings, callbacks, or a particular career outcome. What Braden can do is teach you a reliable technique, identify what's holding your work back, give you specific tools to address it, and help you develop the ability to make stronger choices for yourself.
The growth ultimately comes from applying the work.
