ON-SET ACTING COACH

______________________________________________

I'll Help You See It Through.

There's a difference between preparing for a role and actually shooting it.

On set, things change.

The director gives you a new adjustment. A scene gets rewritten. Your scene partner changes something. You're shooting out of order. You've been waiting three hours and suddenly you're up. The emotional scene you prepared for yesterday is now being shot at 6 a.m. after you've already been working all day.

That's where on-set coaching can make a difference.

Braden can be there with you throughout the shooting day, helping you stay prepared, focused, and connected to the work while you navigate everything a production throws at you.

WHAT AN ON-SET ACTING COACH DOES

The job isn't to tell you how to act. It's to help you do your best work.

Between Takes

Run lines. Revisit a moment. Talk through what isn't working. Get back into the circumstances. Stay connected to the scene instead of spending your downtime worrying about the next setup.

Integrating Direction

Sometimes a director gives you an adjustment and you immediately know what to do.
Sometimes you don't.
A coach can help you process the note, find the adjustment that makes sense for your character, and get back into the scene without losing what was already working.

Last-Minute Changes

Pages change. Scenes move. Dialogue gets cut. New material appears.
Instead of trying to figure it all out alone while everyone waits, you have someone there who already understands the character and the work you've done.

Maintaining the Performance

Film and television aren't shot in story order.
You may shoot the emotional climax before you've shot the scene that leads to it. You may repeat the same moment from six different angles. You may be asked to find the same emotional life after hours of waiting around.
On-set coaching helps you maintain continuity in your performance while staying responsive to the moment.

Staying Prepared Throughout the Day

A twelve-hour shooting day is not twelve hours of performing.
There's waiting. Rehearsing. Blocking. Lighting. Resetting. Lunch. More waiting.
Your coach is there so that when the camera is finally ready, you are too.

This Isn't About Having Someone Hold Your Hand

The goal is never to make you dependent on a coach.

Quite the opposite.

The preparation we do should make you more independent, not less.

On set, Braden is another set of eyes, a sounding board, and someone who understands the work you're trying to do. You still have to walk into the scene and act.

That's your job.

The coach's job is to help make sure you're ready to.

ON-SET COACHING IS AVAILABLE FOR

Film & Television

Features, independent films, television, streaming projects, and other screen work where having a coach present can support your performance.

Difficult or Demanding Roles

Roles requiring significant emotional, physical, vocal, dialect, or character preparation.

Long Shooting Days

When maintaining focus and consistency becomes part of the challenge.

High-Stakes Work

When you've put a lot into getting the job and want experienced support once you're actually there.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Production has to approve a coach's presence on set.

The actor is responsible for obtaining approval from the director and/or production before booking on-set coaching.

Once that's cleared, we'll discuss the shooting schedule, the role, the production, and what kind of support will be most useful.

Pricing

Half Day (5 Hrs) - $600

Full Day (10 Hrs) - $1,000

If you're still preparing for the role and don't need a coach physically on set, Booked Role Coaching may be the better fit.

What is on-set acting coaching?

On-set acting coaching means having an experienced acting coach physically present during your shooting day to support your performance throughout production.

Braden can work with you between takes, run lines, help you process direction, prepare for upcoming setups, and help you maintain your character and performance as the day changes around you.

What does an on-set acting coach actually do?

The coach's job is to support your work without getting in the way of the production.

That can mean running lines, discussing a scene, helping you process a director's note, working through an adjustment after a take, preparing for the next setup, or helping you stay connected to the character during a long shooting day.

You still do the acting. The coach is there to help you do it at your best.

Can you help me between takes?

Yes.

Between takes is often when on-set coaching is most useful. We can review what happened, discuss adjustments, run lines, prepare for the next setup, or simply make sure you remain connected to the work rather than getting pulled out of it by everything happening around you.

Can you help me with a director's notes?

Yes.

If you receive an adjustment and want another perspective on how to integrate it into the character and scene, we can work through it together.

The goal isn't to second-guess the director. It's to help you understand and execute the adjustment without losing the work you've already built.

Can you run lines with me on set?

Yes.

Running lines during waiting time can be one of the simplest and most useful forms of on-set support, particularly when scenes are being shot out of order or dialogue changes during production.

Can you help if the script changes at the last minute?

Yes.

If pages, dialogue, circumstances, or blocking change, we can work through the new material and help you incorporate the adjustment as quickly as possible.

Can you help me maintain continuity in my performance?

Yes.

Film and television are rarely shot in story order. You may shoot the end of a character's emotional journey before shooting what led them there, or repeat the same scene from multiple angles hours apart.

On-set coaching can help you keep track of the character's circumstances, emotional life, relationships, and choices from setup to setup.

Is an on-set coach only useful for difficult or emotional roles?

No.

Any actor can benefit from having another experienced set of eyes available during production.

It's particularly valuable for demanding roles, long shooting days, complicated material, major emotional scenes, accents, physical transformations, or productions with frequent changes, but the service isn't limited to those situations.

Can you coach me on a film set?

Yes.

On-set coaching is available for film and television productions, subject to production approval.

Can you coach me on a television set?

Yes.

Television and streaming productions can involve particularly demanding schedules, multiple setups, scenes shot out of order, and frequent adjustments. Having a coach available throughout the shooting day can help you stay prepared and focused.

Can you work with me on set if we're shooting outside Los Angeles?

Yes.

On-set coaching can be arranged for productions outside Los Angeles. Travel and production logistics are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Does the production have to approve my acting coach?

Yes.

The actor is responsible for obtaining approval from the director and/or production before booking on-set coaching.

Your coach's presence needs to be acceptable to the production and consistent with its rules regarding who may be on set.

Will you be with me the entire shooting day?

Yes. On-set coaching is designed around having Braden present throughout the scheduled coaching day.

The exact schedule and whether a half-day or full-day booking is appropriate can be discussed when the production schedule is available.

Will you talk to the director?

Only when appropriate and with the actor's and production's understanding.

The coach is not there to interfere with the director's process or become another voice giving performance notes. The priority is supporting the actor while respecting the production hierarchy.

Will you be on camera or visible to the production?

No. The coach's role is to support the actor without becoming part of the scene or interfering with production.

Is on-set coaching the same as booked-role coaching?

No.

Booked-role coaching is private preparation before or during the production process. On-set coaching means Braden is physically present during the shooting day.

The two services can work together: you can prepare the role privately beforehand and then have continued support on set.

Do I need to do private coaching before booking on-set coaching?

No.

You don't have to have worked with Braden previously to book on-set coaching.

If you've already prepared the role elsewhere, the on-set coaching can focus on supporting the work you've developed.

How much does on-set acting coaching cost?

On-set coaching is $600 for a half day or $1,000 for a full day.

Contact BLS with your production schedule and details about the role to discuss availability.

Can an on-set coach guarantee a better performance?

No.

No coach can guarantee how a performance will be received or what will ultimately make it into the finished production.

The purpose of on-set coaching is to give you experienced, focused support so you're as prepared and available as possible when the camera is rolling.
